I have a dear friend from college who is expecting her first child. We were having a conversation about motherhood and childrearing over the phone and she asks me "Is your child always sticky?" She asked, because as a devoted aunt of several kids, it felt like at least one of them was always sticky. I thought the same thing once upon a time. However, I replied no because Eliza isn't generally sticky in my opinion but then a few days later this happened...
Being the good mom that I am, (I'm exaggerating just a bit) I decided to feed my child a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. This is a great sacrifice on my part, because peanut butter is one of the only foods I really don't love. So, once the sandwich is in hand she proceeds to take apart the bread and lick off the jelly and peanut butter! I have no idea why she can't eat the bread! So after a few minutes of unsuccessful persuasion I just let her do her thing even though I knew she would be a complete sticky mess afterwards and to top it off I gave her applesauce.

A face that this mom loves, even though she was trying to
touch me with her peanut butter, jelly and applesauce to top it off hands! |

| Quite pleased with herself. |

Sometimes kids just have to be kids and Mom's have to give multiple baths a day. Although, dear friend who will have a baby soon, I have traded sticky business for the OCD hand washing business. Eliza just received a new step stool that her Grandpa made for her. Now she can go into the bathroom and wash her own hands. She loves it so much that she is constantly washing her hands, even if they aren't dirty. Furthermore, she will even drag her baby doll into the bathroom to wash her hands and feet. When I asked her why, she kept saying baby dirty, baby wash.
Family and Friends: BYO foaming hand soap when you visit, because she can put a dent in my supply :)
