Two for 2

Two years, We have been married two years! Wow! For all of you old timers you were here once too!

We tried to make the best of what we had to work with. We went for an extended weekend trip to Savannah. Last year we went to Charleston, SC. It seems we are drawn to historic picturesque cities. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The first thing we did when we arrived was to go the famed Mrs. Wilkes boarding house. This place was amazing! For those of you who have never heard of this place. It is authentic southern cookin' and authentic southern atmosphere. You are seated by table, how ever many can fit at a table together, the table is already set with all the food on it. You then pass the food (which was previously blessed) around to each other at the table. The group we sat with was a family whose children now lived in buffalo NY and New York city, the parents lived in Cleveland, OH. We had a nice visit, but the food was even better than the small talk.

Next we found the hotel we were staying at. We then went out and checked out Savannah, we walked through Forsyth park, (They already dyed the water in the fountain green for St. Patrick's day) then through many of the squares, saw the market, and the churches. It was really fun just to stroll around a beautiful town. The weather couldn't have been better for it! That night we ate at a recommended restaurant called Girabauldi's. It was ok.

The next day we went to River Street, they had a arts and crafts show which we perused. We got some good candy. Then we went to a state historic park called Wormsloe. The park was the site of one of the earliest plantations in GA. It was a nice break from all the people in Savannah, we really enjoyed walking the nature trail that ran along the ocean inlet.

Finally we went in search of this cool cemetery that Renee remembered from when she had been in Savannah before. It took us about an hour to find it and at least 5 or 6U-turns. Finally we found it. It was closed. We were not to be denied on our anniversary, so we slipped in the back "gate". It was a very cool cemetery, we stayed till dusk, when we were formally kicked out.

Renee, I'm so excited that you guys are having a baby!! I've never met your husband so you'll have to tell him who I am! I, too, was in Savannah this past weekend. Actually, we were there Thursday and Friday. It was a lot of fun. I've never been a 'tourist' there before. Hope all is well for you and again congrats on your baby. Oh, by the way, in case you don't know my married name..this is Julie McRae!
